Beaver Creek Hike & Lunch

Aug 19, 2017

When it comes to putting on events, Beaver Creek really knows how to roll out the red carpet. Last weekend, the resort teamed up with Wine Spectator for the 11th annual Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival. The result was an incredible four day culinary adventure in the mountains. Seriously, the lineup was impressive! Mountaintop fitness classes, a port and cheese 4 x 4 tour, cigar, whiskey and wine tastings, and that was just the beginning of the schedule!

We are avid hikers here at TV8 Vail, so one of the highlights for us was the Hike & Lunch event. On Saturday morning, experts from the Beaver Creek Hiking Center guided us on a beautiful hike up the Village Loop trail, through Aspen Glade and eventually back down to Creekside Park for a gourmet lunch. It took us almost 2 hours to complete the intermediate hike and we learned all kinds of new things along the way. For instance, did you know that Beaver Creek is home to lots of Yellow-Bellied Marmots? Marmots are about the size of a house cat and a relative of the woodchuck. When approached, they let out a high pitched whistle or trill, which has earned them the nickname “Whistle Pig”. (A popular ski run at Vail Mountain is also named after these adorable little rodents)

After feasting our eyes on the wild flowers and aspen trees, we filled our bellies with local cuisine provided by Revolution Rotisserie Restaurant. Creekside Park was transformed into an elegant fresh air dining room, complete with an exclusive wine tasting. It truly was a one-of-a-kind experience and we would definitely recommend this event for next year! For more information about all of Beaver Creek’s events, visit
